System Requirments for Sims 4 Are Revealed System Requirments for Sims 4 Are Revealed

Systems requirements for the highly anticipated Sims 4 have been revealed on its official website and, I must say, they look far more decent than I expected (at least the minimum configuration). The upcoming Electronic Arts game will hit the market in a week, its official launch date is set for September 2nd.

The Sims is one of the most popular titles in the gaming world. Published by Electronic Arts, this life simulation video game allows you to create your own characters, establish their personalities and guide them through their everyday lives. In the game's virtual reality, your sim will be able to make new friends, romance other computer or user-controlled characters, get a job, build a house, educate him/herself, etc.

A lot of people on the Internet are talking about the huge gap between the minimum requirements and the recommended specifications, saying that the latter ones are either too steep or exaggerated (not actually necessary), but I tend to disagree. As a Sims "connoisseur", I had almost all the Sims 3 DLCs installed, and they were beginning to take quite a toll on my computer (which meets the recommended specs for Sims 4). Furthermore, from what I know, Sims 4 has a lot of improvements and new features, so I was expecting it to have much higher recommended requirements.

Here are the specs your PC needs to have in order to run the game:

Minimum Requirements:

  • OS: Windows XP (SP3), Windows Vista (SP2), Windows 7 (SP1), Windows 8, or Windows 8.1
  • PROCESSOR: 1.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, AMD Athlon 64 Dual-Core 4000+ or equivalent (For computers using built-in graphics chipsets, the game requires 2.0 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2.0 GHz AMD Turion 64 X2 TL-62 or equivalent)
  • MEMORY: At least 2 GB RAM
  • HARD DRIVE: At least 9 GB of free space with at least 1 GB additional space for custom content and saved games
  • VIDEO CARD: 128 MB of Video RAM and support for Pixel Shader 3.0. Supported Video Cards: NVIDIA GeForce 6600 or better, ATI Radeon X1300 or better, Intel GMA X4500 or better
  • SOUND CARD: DirectX 9.0c Compatible
  • DIRECTX: DirectX 9.0c compatible
  • INPUT: Keyboard and Mouse
  • DVD-ROM: DVD ROM drive required for installation only
  • REQUIRED: Internet connection required for product activation.

Recommended Specifications:

  • OS: 64 Bit Windows 7,8, or 8.1
  • PROCESSOR: Intel core i5 or faster AMD Athlon X4
  • MEMORY: 4GB RAM
  • HARD DRIVE: At least 9 GB of free space with at least 1 GB additional space for custom content and saved games
