Windows 11 features to be released by the end of summer 2025 Windows 11 features to be released by the end of summer 2025

According to the post titled “Releasing Windows 11 Build 26100.5061 to the Release Preview Channel” that appeared on Windows blogs on August 14, 2025, Microsoft plans to further boost usability of its current core operating system in the upcoming weeks. Right now, the features are made available only to the participants of the Windows Insider Program; they are gradually rolled out in the Dev and Beta Channels. Soon, however, the said features will be part of the general release available to the public, so let’s take a closer look at what to expect.

The list in Microsoft’s blog post is rather long and includes some items that are not really important for regular users. We picked what matters and summarized it for you into an easily readable scoop of information.

  • Recall. The controversial feature gets a personalized homepage that shows recent activity, top-used apps, and websites.
  • Click to Do. This feature brings AI-powered actions to the context menu; in the next release, Microsoft plans to add an interactive tutorial that demonstrates possible actions on text and images.
  • Search on the Taskbar. A seemingly minor tweak with potentially big implications in certain use cases: Taskbar gets a new grid view that improves image search accuracy and speed by making the status info on search progress and file availability (in the cloud or on the device) clearer.
  • Lock screen. More widget options are coming, supporting extended personalization in all regions.
  • File Explorer. Microsoft 365 Copilot will enable AI-powered actions for image editing (background blurring or removal, object erasing, visual search) and document summarizing right in File Explorer.
  • Windows Hello. The interface of passkey and authentication flows has been redesigned to be more intuitive (well, we’ll see).
  • Windows backup for organizations. In case you have a business relying on the Windows ecosystem, it will be easier to restore data and migrate to new devices as Microsoft makes its enterprise-grade backup tool generally available.

Stay tuned for more information about upcoming Windows features!
