Pokémon Go has gained a lot of popularity during the past year, gaining millions of players from every corner of the world, except China. Government officials revealed that the reason why they refuse to license the popular augmented reality game is the risk of dealing with national security issues. Another motive is the fact that people's lives can be put in danger while playing this game. There have been numerous reports regarding thefts and car crashes caused by the use of this app.

Nintendo’s popular game stimulates movement and requires users to actually chase and capture Pokémons out of their houses, on the streets. While it was praised for its ability to encourage outdoor activities, the game also faced a lot of backlash, mostly because of the large amount of car accidents that were associated with the app and the fact that players ended up in dubious locations. Hence, the decision of the China officials to ban Pokémon Go.

It's been revealed that the government officials simply want to asses the risks of having their residents playing this augmented reality game and then decide how to proceed. Only time will tell if Pokémon Go will become available in China or not.
