IFA 2025: useful, innovative, and simply cool devices and accessories
IFA, which stands for “Internationale Funkausstellung,” or “International Radio Exhibition," is Europe's premier and one of the world's largest trade shows for consumer electronics and home appliances. It is also one of the oldest industrial fairs all around: the first IFA was organized in 1924 in Berlin, and this city has been hosting the event ever since.
In 2025, the IFA exhibition occupied Berlin ExpoCenter City, a major exhibition grounds and convention center, September 5 through 9. The show featured around 2000 exhibitors from all over the world, and they gave the public — more than 150 thousand attendees from 130+ countries — the latest stuff they have come up with, from new serial models to prototypes that will (or won’t, depending on the market’s reaction measured at events like IFA) be mass-produced in the near future.
We scooped up some interesting items unveiled at IFA 2025 that aren’t vacuum cleaners or smart fridges; most of them have to do with computers (Informer’s about software and hardware), but there are a couple of surprises, too.
A couple of laptops from Acer
At IFA 2025, Acer presented two different laptops that, as it seems, seek to dominate their respective niches.
The first one is Acer Swift Air 16, an ultraportable laptop that weighs under one kilogram (about 2.18 lbs) and still packs some impressive hardware: a spacious 16-inch 120Hz high-resolution display (or a WUXGA IPS display in a cheaper version), a processor from the AMD Ryzen AI 300 Series with a dedicated AI engine facilitating machine learning tasks, and an ultra-lightweight 50Wh battery. The laptop qualifies as a Copilot+ PC, i.e., it supports advanced AI features in Windows 11 (we’ve covered this new breed of PCs here and here).
Expected price: $1100 to $1165 in the US, €999 in Europe.
The second is Acer Predator Helios 18P, the new flagship built for gaming or work. The laptop offers desktop-level performance: the top version’s processor is Intel Core Ultra 9 285HX (Arrow Lake) with 24 cores, the graphics card is NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 Laptop GPU, the RAM capacity can be up to 192 GB of ECC (Error Correcting Code) variety, and the display is an 18-inch mini-LED 4K (3840 × 2400) 120Hz deal.
Expected price: $3999 in the North American market, about €4999 in Europe, Middle East, and African markets.
Lenovo ThinkBook VertiFlex Concept
Come to think of it, this idea is so obvious you can only wonder why it wasn’t realized earlier. Lenovo ThinkBook VertiFlex is a laptop with a screen that pivots 90°, allowing you to switch between horizontal (landscape) and vertical (portrait) modes. The display is 14-inch, and the computer itself is lightweight and ultraslim: 1.39 kg and 17.9 mm thick. Lenovo does plan to sell this laptop, but even if they decide to pass after some time, chances are some obscure less-known brand will pick up the idea and bring something like this to the market.
Expected price: around $1049 for the base model.
Alogic Clarity 6K Touch Monitor
Remember Microsoft PixelSense, an interactive surface computing platform, or, put simply, a big touchscreen doubling as a desk? Essentially, Alogic Clarity 6K Touch Monitor is its younger brother (minus the computing part). It is the world's first 6K 32-inch touchscreen that offers 6016 x 3384 pixel resolution, 99% RGB color accuracy, 10-point multitouch capability and stylus support, plus on-board twin 5W speakers and wide 178° horizontal/vertical viewing angles. Compatible with Windows and Mac.
Expected price: around $2000 in the US, €1900 in Europe.
Anker Prime Triple Display Docking Station
Part of the company’s top-shelf Prime series, Anker Prime Triple Display Docking Station is a device for power users who need everything connected, charging, and working flawlessly as a single system. The station boasts 14 ports — a 140W upstream USB-C, three additional USB-C ports, three USB-A, two HDMI outputs, DisplayPort 1.4, Gigabit Ethernet, an audio jack — and slots for SD and microSD cards. One of the connected monitors can be an 8K model, two more — 4K. With integrated cooling, the station works perfectly with both Windows and macOS.
Expected price: $299.99 in the US, €349.99 in Europe.
TCL NxtPaper 60 Ultra smartphone
In a smartphone, an e-ink display may sound like an unorthodox decision, especially considering the previous attempts at such a design. TCL, it seems, found the sweet spot in the middle between true electronic ink and regular LCD: its NxtPaper 60 Ultra smartphone boasts a 7.2-inch NxtPaper 4.0 “paper-like” IPS display, Full HD and a 120 Hz refresh rate. The technology offers zero flickering and blue light purification, and makes the display reflection-free and anti-glare. Inside, the phone has a MediaTek Dimensity 7400 SoC chip with 12 GB of RAM and up to 512 GB of storage, plus a 5200 mAh battery capable of fast charging.
Price: sold in Europe, Latin America, and Asia-Pacific regions, TCL NxtPaper 60 Ultra costs from €479.99 to €549 (depending on the on-board storage capacity).
Jackery Explore 500 v2 Portable Power Station
If you find yourself away from a wall outlet every now and then, this one will probably be interesting for you. Jackery Explore 500 v2 Portable Power Station is positioned as the most compact and lightweight power station in its class: being about the size of a lunchbox, it has a 512 Wh battery capacity and delivers 500 watts of continuous output (peak power — up to 1000 watts). There are two AC outlets, two USB-C ports (100W and 30W), one USB-A port, and a 12 V port on the station’s sides, covering pretty much all the bases.
Expected price: about $530, or €520.
