But does the new flagship from Huawei have the specs to rival what the most of us consider to be the best Android smartphone of the year, the Nexus 6P? As the device has been announced and there is no more space for speculation, let's see what Huawei Mate 8 has to offer.

The new Mate 8 has a 6-inch full HD display with the resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels. The display is covered with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 that will provide extra protection for your screen. Selfie lovers will also appreciate the 8MP front-facing camera of the smartphone.On the back of the phablet rests a 16MP primary camera with dual LED and a fingerprint sensor, which is said to be faster and more accurate compared to the fingerprint sensor of its predecessor, the Mate 7. On the inside, we are having a homecooked Huawei's Kirin 950 processor that features four Cortex A53, four Cortex-A72 CPU cores and a Mali-T880 GPU. There are said to be three versions of the smartphone, which differ in terms of RAM and internal storage: 3GB RAM/ 32GB storage; 4GB RAM/ 64GB storage and 3GB RAM/ 128GB storage. Nevertheless, all the versions have a microSD slot, which you can use to add up to 128 GB of extra storage. The phablet is powered by a 4000 mAh battery with fast charging (37% in 30 min). The smartphone is running a customized version of EMUI 4.0, based on Android Marshmallow 6.0.

The Huawei Mate 8 is now available for purchase exclusively in China and will set you back about $580 for the mid-tier version with 4GB RAM and 64GB of storage. The Mate 8 with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage will cost about $470, while for $690 you will be able to buy the Mate 8 with 3 GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. If don't live in China, you'd have to wait until early in January when the company is said to reveal prices and release dates for the rest of the world.
