Google's app for mobiles revamped with tappable shortcuts Google's app for mobiles revamped with tappable shortcuts

Google has recently added a very interesting feature to its search engine. Called tappable shortcuts, this new functionality adds some very handy shortcuts right under the search box, to help you find the answer to more general questions without having to actually type or dictate them. At the moment, tappable shortcuts are only available in the U.S., but they work on both the iOS and Android Google apps as well as on the web version of the service.

These easy-to-tap shortcuts include a wide array of fields such as sports, the weather, entertainment, food & drinks, etc. Additionally, if you tap the arrow button on the right edge of the screen, you will be able to see entire pages of neatly categorized shortcuts. The idea behind the shortcuts is that the users will no longer need to write search queries unless they are looking for something very specific. Since I hate typing on mobile devices, I'm a big fan of this change. In case you're really bored, there's also an I'm Feeling Curious shortcut, but you're going to need to be curious enough to tap it yourself in order to find out what it does. To see how these new tappable shortcuts work, check out Google's presentation video that I've embedded below.
