Google Home is now the perfect cooking companion Google Home is now the perfect cooking companion

Unfortunately for most of us, digital assistants can't really clean your house or cook for you, but that doesn't mean that they can't help you with your day-to-day chores. For example, Google Home has just been updated with more than five million recipes, being the perfect companion to have in the kitchen. The device can tell you what ingredients you need as well as how to prepare your meals and, what's even better, it won't berate you if you do something wrong.

To find out the recipe for a meal, all you've got to do is to ask the device using the "OK Google, let's make <name of the food>" formula. In case you're looking for something more advanced, you can fire up the Google app from your iPhone or Android smartphone and use the Send to Google Home feature once you find the one that you were looking for. Another really useful thing is that the assistant will break down the recipe into steps and you can ask it to repeat the one that you're currently at or even reiterate a previous stage. According to Google's announcement, the Home device is capable of scraping instructions from popular cooking websites such as the Food Network, The New York Times, Bon Appetit, etc. The update containing the recipes is rolling out over the next two weeks both on the Google Assistant app and on Google Home.

However, if you're not a fan of Google's Assistant and you don't have a Google Home device, you can always use one of the tools from our top 7 cooking apps.
